Kingshot: Century Games' New SLG Contender

Following the success of Whiteout Survival, Century Games launched another SLG title, Kingshot, which quickly achieved notable revenue after release.

The game continues with a classic medieval setting. Players take on the role of a king who develops territory, shelters refugees, and gradually expands the homeland. This setup establishes a strong sense of role immersion while providing the foundation for its simulation and strategy systems.

In the early stages, the king's rescue gameplay is simple and approachable, making the game easy to pick up. More strategic systems unfold progressively later, providing additional growth and challenge for strategy-game players.

According to SocialPeta, Kingshot launched approximately 9,000 deduplicated creatives across iOS and Android in June. Its Android advertising data showed:

  • Around 93% of creatives during the previous 30 days were videos, and approximately 77% of those videos were longer than 30 seconds.
  • Portrait-oriented 720 × 1280 creatives were the most common format, accounting for about 54%.
  • English was the dominant advertising language, accounting for approximately 84% of ad copy, followed by Japanese and Korean.
  • Advertising themes frequently focused on the king as the central character, including territory construction and defending against enemies.

Kingshot's creatives were highly diverse, ranging from richly textured static images to gameplay-led videos. Rather than relying on a conventional low-poly presentation, many image creatives used a more expressive Western comic-cartoon style intended to resonate with Western audiences. The article also notes that many of these images were AI-generated, increasing visual variety and creative production efficiency.

For video advertising, one of the main creative formats combined voiceover commentary with demonstrations of core gameplay. A real-person presenter appeared alongside in-game footage while narrating mechanics and highlights, allowing the ad to communicate both the game's appeal and how it plays.

MONOPOLY GO! Combines Classic IP with Social Play

After acquiring the rights to use the classic Monopoly IP, Scopely launched MONOPOLY GO! in 2023. The casual social game adapts familiar Monopoly mechanics for mobile: players roll dice to move around the board, purchase properties, build houses, and trigger different events.

While retaining recognizable elements of the original board game, MONOPOLY GO! introduces lightweight competitive and cooperative systems, including heists, shutdown-style interactions, and social events, making each round less predictable.

According to SocialPeta, MONOPOLY GO! launched nearly 6,000 deduplicated creatives across iOS and Android in June. Android-specific advertising data showed:

  • About 94% of creatives during the previous 30 days were videos, with more than 83% of those videos under 30 seconds.
  • Vertical 720 × 1280 creatives accounted for more than 55%.
  • English represented approximately 89% of advertising language usage, followed by Japanese and Korean.
  • Common copy themes included free dice, easy coin collection, and social interaction with friends.

Static advertising frequently used the franchise's recognizable top-hat mascot to reinforce the Monopoly identity and evoke nostalgia. Video ads instead emphasized iconic gameplay elements such as dice and the board itself.

Players can also interact with friends through the Community Chest feature, strengthening the game's social dimension.
