Scopely Agrees to Acquire Niantic's Games Business as MONOPOLY GO! Remains a Top Advertiser

On March 12, 2025, mobile game developer Scopely announced an agreement to acquire Niantic's games business for $3.5 billion. The transaction included games such as Pokémon GO and Monster Hunter Now, as well as Niantic's game development teams.

MONOPOLY GO! continued to rely mainly on gameplay-focused advertising. Among both high-volume and high-performing creatives, its video ads included a mixture of live-action material and animated gameplay footage.

Slack Off Survivor: The Revival of Cooperative Tower Defense Games

Slack Off Survivor is a cooperative tower defense survival game set in a frozen apocalypse. It combines cooperative gameplay, roguelike elements, and PvP combat.
After launching in Taiwan and Southeast Asia in November 2024, the game consistently appeared on iOS advertising charts. In March 2025, it entered the global iOS advertising Top 20.
According to SocialPeta, Slack Off Survivor had approximately 1,900 deduplicated ad creatives on iOS in March.

Following its fourth-anniversary event, Uma Musume: Pretty Derby generated more than $20 million in App Store revenue, representing an 81.8% month-over-month increase.
Google Play Revenue Highlights
MONOPOLY GO! continued to increase its revenue and returned to the top of the Google Play revenue chart. Its March revenue reached approximately $46 million, up 17.9% month-over-month.
Compared with February, revenue for Pokémon TCG Pocket declined during March.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, the global MOBA developed by Moonton Games, moved against the broader trend and generated approximately $13 million on Google Play, a 30% month-over-month increase.

App Store Download Highlights
Block Blast! experienced a slight decline in downloads during March but still held the No. 1 position on the App Store download chart, with approximately 9 million downloads. Users in the United States accounted for around 19.3% of downloads.
Puzzle title Word Search Explorer became one of the strongest download-growth performers, recording approximately 2 million downloads in March. U.S. users accounted for 47.5% of downloads.
Google Play Download Highlights
Multiplayer board game Ludo King recorded approximately 16 million downloads on Google Play in March. The original SocialPeta article reported that U.S. users contributed around 57.1% of downloads.
Newly launched puzzle and mystery game Brainy Prankster also recorded strong growth, with more than 11 million downloads on Google Play during March. Brazilian users accounted for 10.6% of downloads.
