September 2026 mobile game rankings: Roblox turns an anniversary into a revenue month

Roblox nearly doubled estimated revenue, three games entered the global download Top 10, and September's event calendar produced sharply different results across games and markets.

September 2026 market read

September was not a broad market upswing. The sampled download Top 10 was almost flat, while the revenue Top 10 fell 7.8%. The month was defined by a few concentrated wins: Roblox's anniversary, Free Fire's returning anime collaboration, Pokémon GO's event calendar and a late-August Korean launch that carried into September.

Downloads held close to August because new puzzle entries replaced several declining titles. Revenue was more concentrated: Roblox rose eight places and Pokémon GO returned to the Top 10, while seven other titles in the table declined month over month.

+88.2%

Roblox moved from tenth to second in the global revenue ranking. Estimated revenue reached $112.7 million, up 88.2% from August. The increase appeared across all ten comparable regional samples, including gains of 112.9% in the United Kingdom and 86.9% in the United States.

The timing overlaps Roblox's twentieth-anniversary program. The company ran The Hunt: Roblox 20 from September 17 to 28, linking 40 experiences, limited virtual items and subscriber benefits. The same month also brought RDC product and monetization announcements. These events created a strong engagement and purchase window, though the ranking data cannot isolate how much each feature contributed.

Three event windows with three different chart effects

September's largest movements came from different stages of the product cycle: a returning collaboration, a recurring live event and the first full month after launch.

Free Fire × NARUTO

#2

Free Fire rose from fourth to second in downloads, reaching 17.8 million. Garena brought back its NARUTO SHIPPUDEN collaboration on September 16 with refreshed Battle Royale mechanics, new rewards and the OB55 update. Free Fire MAX also entered the global download Top 10 at ninth.

SEP 05-08

Pokémon GO

#7

Pokémon GO entered the global revenue Top 10 at seventh with an estimated $65.0 million. The Mega Finale ran on September 5 and 6, followed by a new season from September 8. Revenue increased in all six comparable regional samples, led by India at 45.3% and Canada at 38.7%.

AUG 26 / SEP 02

제우스: 오만의 신

+389.1%

Com2uS launched the Korean MMORPG on August 26 and opened a new server on September 2. Its estimated Korean revenue rose 389.1% in September, taking it from fifth to first in that market's sample. This is the clearest launch-tail movement in the report.

The dates line up with the chart changes, but the estimates describe monthly outcomes, not controlled attribution. Late-month events also have less time to influence a full-month result.

Puzzle acquisition grew faster than puzzle monetization

New global entrant

Bus Fever Party!

Bus Fever Party entered the global download ranking at fifth with 15.2 million installs. Brazil was its strongest tracked acceleration, rising from eighth to third as downloads increased 138.8%. Google Play shows active September updates and a seasonal offer, but the chart movement is best read as rapid distribution rather than proof of one campaign's effect.

Royal Match

Royal Match downloads increased across nine comparable markets, averaging 46.2% growth. Global revenue moved the other way, falling 17.5% and dropping from third to fifth. The September 25 store update added 100 levels, a new area and weekly events, but acquisition growth did not translate into higher estimated monthly revenue.

The contrast matters for marketers. A download surge can reflect broader distribution, fresh creative or store visibility without producing the same-month spending response. September's puzzle results make that gap visible instead of treating installs and revenue as interchangeable signs of success.

September rewarded concentrated event windows more than broad category momentum. Roblox had the month's standout monetization result, Free Fire converted a returning collaboration into download gains, and puzzle publishers showed that acquisition scale and revenue can move in opposite directions.

Data notes and sources

Download and revenue figures are SocialPeta estimates for September 2026. Global totals sum the ten titles shown and do not represent the whole mobile game market. Russia is excluded from revenue interpretation because its supplied revenue rows are zero-filled. Temporary store-title changes were combined using shared store identifiers.

Tracked advertising counts describe app-level creative activity observed by SocialPeta. They are not spend, impressions, reach or country budgets, and they are not summed across countries in this report.
